PrismArch deliverable “Report on current limitations of AEC software tools, leading to user and functional requirements of PrismArch” contains a requirements analysis for collaborative VR environments in AEC industry. The report describes existing practices and indicative problems that VR- and non-VR-aided design environments are facing with respect to the architectural designers and engineering needs. It provides a holistic approach into the needs of the basic AEC disciplines – namely Architects, Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, and Structural Engineers from VR environments. The general scope is to enhance collaboration in immersive spaces by providing tools that enable a smooth workflow before, during and after the construction of a building.

PrismArch aims to combine AEC’s industry various functional tools into a common platform that will facilitate decision making and ultimately reshape the design process; it therefore presents several data management challenges besides the collection of data. The first mapping of the overall process was recorded in this report, providing a holistic insight of the requirements analysis methodology.
